11 Cadogan Gardens: Chelsea

I was quietly eavesdropping in a hotel lobby recently when I heard someone say they’re “on a staycation” and it’s been my favourite travel phrase ever since. A vacation without leaving your own city… what a wonderful idea!

After a busy few weeks at work, my boyfriend and I decided to have a staycation of our own and booked a night at 11 Cadogan Gardens for a weekend of strolls in the park, afternoon tea, relaxing bath tub soaks and a sleep in what must be London’s biggest four-poster bed.

We arrived at Cadogan Gardens on our return from a stroll around Sloane Square and were given a tour of the beautiful boutique hotel. As the concierge opened the door to our room, our final stop, it was hard to stop my jaw dropping. We had been upgraded to a suite which had a large living room, hallway, marble bathroom and bedroom complete with a large four-poster bed. Our suite was bigger than my whole apartment and I was quite content walking around it for the weekend pretending it was my new home.

We indulged in a late afternoon tea laid on for us in the conservatory. It was a traditional British spread complete with sandwiches, scones and sweet treats… Oh and champagne of course!

Just around the corner from 11 Cadogan Gardens is a boutique perfumery called Ormonde Jayne. I’m a big fan of their luxurious scents so I was very excited to find their toiletries in the bathroom.

I ran the tap, poured in the heavenly bath oil, poured a glass of champagne and slipped into the tub with the latest issue of Vogue – I think I need to make this my Sunday evening ritual! After a long soak in the bath we got into bed early and fell asleep on the world’s softest sheets. Good night…

We woke up early to enjoy our final morning in the suite. The view overlooking leafy Cadogan Gardens was just so beautiful that we couldn’t resist ordering room service for breakfast. I stayed in my fluffy bathroom and tucked into a full English Breakfast (with boiled eggs and soilders of course). Can every Monday morning be like this please?!

If you’re going to treat yourself to a staycation I can’t recommend this leafy corner of Chelsea enough.
