Sky High Yoga: London

What better way to spend a morning than with a sunrise yoga session? Last week I visited The Sky Gardens for a class that combined exercise with epic city views to uplift, inspire and blow away those morning cobwebs! It was difficult to not be distracted by the backdrop of incredible city views but at 35 floors high it was certainly one of the more exotic locations I’ve practiced yoga.

Our teacher was a lovely lady called Kerry Louise who led a vinyasa flow style class. The high ceilings made her instructions quite echoey but anyone with a basic experience of yoga will be able to enjoy the class without feeling too lost. I would also recommend arriving early to make sure you get your mat at the front as it isn’t very easy to see from some of the spaces at the back. After the class you can stay behind to take photos – perfect for an instagram-addict like me!

Mats aren’t provided so be sure to bring your own! I usually practice yoga alone at home so the class was a great chance to show off my new active wear. My Sweaty Betty leggings have a gorgeous navasana print and are made from super soft fabric. I wore them with my black mesh sports bra by Btempted (which I have in multiple colours to match all my yoga pants hehe).

I went to the class with my friend, and fellow yoga enthusiast, Milli from the blog Milli Grace London so after the class we had a catch up over smoothies. Milli chose the Pash n Shoot which was a simple blend of passionfruit, pineapple & mango whilst I ordered the Detox-Zing which was a delicious mix of ginger, blueberry, carrot, courgette & banana. A perfect start to the day!

The Sky Gardens are a natural environment so it felt quite cool as we sat in the open space. Luckily for us there were coloured blankets laid over the chairs so we wrapped up warm for our breakfast and took in the views.

If not much motivates you to exercise in the morning then the prospect of a yoga class with a view of London should do the trick. You can book your morning yoga session here:
