How To Get A Gel Manicure At Home With Essie

Nothing beats a bit of me time! My favourite ways to treat myself are indulging in a good book, catching up with some trashy TV and getting my nails done. As well as finding it therapeutic it always cheers me up when I get a glimpse of my colourful manicure whilst I’m at my desk.

Tapping away at a keyboard all day does means my nail varnish doesn’t last long though as even the best top coat polishes require daily touch-ups…and who has time for that?! Getting a gel manicure is perfect for solving this problem as they stay on for so much longer however they are pretty pricey and it isn’t as accessible as doing your own nails at home with a glass of wine *sigh*.

When I heard Essie had a new miracle top coat I thought ‘yeah sure’ like every other new nail product it will promise long lasting and massively underperform. But…much to my surprise it hasn’t disappointed! It gives a great gel-like look without having to go to a salon and it’s made my manicure chip proof for around five to six days. When I use a traditional top coat it only lasts two or three days without chipping when I wash the dishes, type at my desk or rummage around in my handbag.

The lovely ladies at Essie also sent me some summery shades to try out with the top coat and they’re so cute. When I was on holiday I couldn’t get enough of Naughty Nautical and Sunday Funday but now I’m home I like Sand Tropez best as the soft sandy beige colour is a great neutral pastel which works with all my autumn outfits. After applying my polish I just add an extra layer of the gel setter on top and I’m good to go!

If you like treating yourself to a manicure then I would really recommend adding the Essie Gel Setter to your home manicure kit.
