Learn How To Weave Workshop

After a certain amount of Mother’s Days you just run out of ideas. I’ve done flowers, chocolates and candles far too many times so this year I decided I would do something different and we would go for an experience…

My mum is a woman of many talents. One being that she’s great at making things! If you ever need some DIY – she’s your girl! So when I stumbled across a ‘Learn How To Weave Workshop’ on notonthehighstreet.com I thought it was perfect for her.

I bought the voucher and we met in Camden to learn how to weave and create our own unique woven wall hanging to take home. The room was full of crafts and curiosities so expect to be surrounded by sewing machines, boxes of buttons and vintage teacups!

The class was small with six of us around a table topped with balls of knitting wool, trimming and fabrics. Everyone was very friendly so we all chatted whilst we worked on our weaving. It was great to spend so much quality time with my mum and doing something different to the dinners or drinks we usually do.

If you’re a design and decor fanatic like me you will have seen beautiful wall-hangings and tapestries popping up all over Pinterest. I pinned some examples to a moodboard and brought them with me for some inspiration to get me started.

Once we had learnt how to set the warp on our looms and weave a basic stitches we were encouraged to let our imagination lead! I knew I wanted to stick with a cream and blue colour scheme but I experimented with lots of different textures which turned out nicely.

I was very impressed with what you can make in 3 hours if you really put your mind to it. My weaving is now

hanging in my bedroom on the prints above my desk. It definitely has a ‘homemade quirk’ to it but I’m very proud of it.

One of the best things about buying experiences on notonthehighstreet.com is that they send you an e-voucher straight away so if you’re forgetful or a last minute present buyer then they’ve got you covered.

My mum and I had a lovely evening catching up and getting crafty so if you’re looking for a way to celebrate Mother’s Day that is unique then check out notonthehighstreet.com This Mother’s Day they’re championing every kind of mum with their #ForMumsWho campaign.

They know that mums are all different and recognise their beautiful diversity by sharing the most thoughtful gifts to celebrate individuality and cheer them on in style! So whatever your mum loves and whoever your mum is you’ll be sure to find something that she will love…
